Hybrid?

Is such a glider even suitable for powered paragliding? The answer is, yes, of course! Ideally, hybrid versions are for pilots who desire a combination wing for both free flying and powered paragliding. And since a hybrid, by design, is more efficient (less fuel consumption with motor), it is also a smart choice for motor pilots who wish to leave a minimal ‘carbon footprint’, while at the same time, enjoying benefits of greater fuel economy.

On the other hand, if you consider the many possibilities and qualities of today's powered gliders, it is necessary for each pilot to define their own unique requirements for powered flying, while considering their economic priorities.

Hybrid gliders are primarily designed and tuned for free flight. And at higher loads, such as with a paramotor, hybrids can sometimes exhibit behavior which a motor pilot may not prefer. Hybrid gliders tend to be less stable in roll at higher loads, which actually may suit some pilots who prefer sporty handling and playfulness when flying close to the ground. The new powerful free flight profiles are designed for maximum buoyancy which makes these profiles more sensitive to air movements flying against the wind and in turbulence. On the plus side, hybrid gliders usually require shorter takeoff speed while offering slower landings.

We have designed a glider of the EN A category, which excels in performance and glide, at a level which is usually achievable only with gliders of higher categories. In addition, this performance is combined with simplicity, stability, and passive safety. Muse 5 is an enjoyable wing of the sports performance category with great XC potential.

Powerful and relaxing

Muse 5 exhibits balanced canopy behavior over the entire weight range. The neutral movements of the canopy in turbulent air are supported by precisely definable control, which contributes to the safety and pleasant steering of the glider by thermalling. The steering forces are medium and progressively increase. The canopy responds willingly to the steering. Inputs up to 40% of the control range allow easy control in strong thermal cores. Easy inflating and rising of the canopy during takeoff, these are the mandatory "ingredients", which are one of MAC PARA's parameters of the overall glider's safety. Reliable take-offs and landings are a matter of course for MUSE 5. Activation of the speed system is easy thanks to high-quality ball bearings pulleys. The stability of the canopy at full speed will please performance-oriented pilots. The imaginary icing on the cake is an extraordinary glide for the given category. The hybrid version is equipped with trims on C straps. These are used to compensate for torques from the paramotor, or to speed up the glider in calm air. The control handles and risers of the hybrid version are equipped with strong neodymium magnets that make it easier to attach the handles to the straps in flight.

Light construction

Lightweight gliders are becoming standard nowadays, which is why the Muse 5 is designed as a semi-light glider. The smallest size weighs 4.60 kg. The canopy is aerodynamically very clean thanks to the different 3D shapings of the panels and the leading edge. Mini-ribs on the trailing edge, the shape of the stabilizers and the narrow riser's straps help to reduce resistance and increase performance. Canopy shaping, 50 panels, geometry, diagonal system and line system - everything was optimized to give the right canopy stiffness, providing stability and pleasant; comfortable flight in active air and exceptional glide at higher speeds.

Materials

Of course, the construction of the glider is not only about weight, but also about durability and lifetime.
The Muse 5 is made of proven Skytex materials. Skytex 32 Hard finish for all profiles and diagonal ribs. Skytex 38 Universal is used for upper surface and LE of lower surface. Skytex 32 Universal is used for bottom main surface. The gallery lines and main lines are made of Edelrid's Aramid / Kevlar material, brake lines are made of Edelrid's Dynema. The risers are made of narrow Kevlar / Polyester webbing and are equipped with high quality Harken ball bearing pulleys. For clarity, the lines are color-coded in the rows.

Who is it for ..?

Muse 5 is a top hybrid glider designed for recreational pilots combining free and powered flying. For pilots who prefer the highest level of safety. The Muse 5 Hybrid has been tested for powered flying and received DGAC certification. Its flight characteristics and stability provide comfort on board, while excellent performance allows long flights with minimal fuel consumption.

And the most difficult in the end… choice.

Finally, the most difficult part. How to choose the right size and choose the colour design? Regarding the colour; you must decide according to your own preferences, but with the choice of size you can ask your instructor, dealer or MAC PARA for advice.
The MUSE 5 is available in sizes 22, 25, 27, 29, 31, 34. These sizes cover the weight range from 73 kg up to 190 kg.

Der Muse 5 wird aus bewährten Materialien mit bekannter Qualität und Haltbarkeit hergestellt: Skytex 38 Universal von Porcher Sport. Für alle Rippen und Diagonalrippen verwenden wir Skytex 32 Hard mit E29 “hard finish” Beschichtung. Dieser Mix gibt dem Schirm den Vorteil sowohl leicht als auch langlebig zu sein. Die verschiedenen Teile werden so verarbeitet um ein möglichst sauberes Segel zu erhalten.
